Palm Beach Post article: 6 arrested for health care for all at Humana office in Palm Beach!

Friday, October 16, 2009

Five protesters were arrested at a sit-in at Humana corporate offices as others marched outside Thursday afternoon. The local protest, organized by Floridians for Health Care, included several dozen people representing a variety of organizations. The local demonstration was part of a national day of protests to support a single payer plan and what organizers call “insurance abuse”. Rick Ford, president of Floridians for Health Care, said the object of the protest is to “draw attention to the abuses of insurance companies. We want Humana to cease denying payments for doctor requested treatments of patients with life threatening conditions. Nationally, 20% of treatments are denied for life threatening conditions. People are dying so they can make a profit.” Photos and more at the Palm Beach Post
